Does anyone have experience, good or bad, of using electronic percussion in a brass band? Like most bands we end up carrying the equivalent of a transit full of percussiony things when we go anywhere.
I discussed this with an manufacturer of electronice drum kits, who also manufacture brass instruments, keyboards etc (work it out!!) and after he stopped laughing told me that all the sounds I could want out of a kit, timps and a hundred other percussion bits and bobs were availabl... [Read More]

National Anthem and Council Bandstands |

It was mentioned to me at the weekend that whenever we play at a council funded bandstand we are supposed to play the National Anthem. Anyone else come across this as a requirement of the performance?
The only one I can think of is Wetherby Bandstand when I believe the Trust ask for this but I dont think that one's a council funded bandstand anyway. Oh and St James's Park but then again it is next door to Buckingham Palace and I suppose there's a good chance she might hear it.

Has anyone played on any of the virtuosi bass trombones, either the VB-730L Bb/F Large Bore or the VB-731L Bb/F Bass Trombone. They are quite cheap and was just wondering if they were any good?? Looking for a good cheap second study instrument
